Topic worked collaboratively with Coldwell Banker West Shell and 3CDC in the design and development of otrliving.com, a new website to promote residency in Over the Rhine, Cincinnati’s most historic neighborhood. The new website, in comparison to its predecessor, represents a significant leap forward in how property in Over the Rhine is marketed and available listings maintained, and most importantly for how potential residents shop for properties, be they apartments, condos or single family homes.
For 3CDC, the goal of the project was to better reflect the community that is Over the Rhine, to showcase its many achievements and ongoing developments, offsetting misperceptions with positively reinforced imagery and news.
Remodeled and Refurbished
In the previous iteration of the website one could only shop by listing links that opened a pdf of an individual unit, and in most cases that information was outdated. Using the new website, one can explore housing options by category or by search, either browsing all properties of a certain type or drilling down by price, number of bedrooms or bathrooms. Every property and every unit has been optimized for search, with each having a profile page with descriptive content, photos, floor plans and downloadable pdfs. Likewise, an interested shopper can opt to be connected with the appropriate property or unit representative at either location, and the representative receives the exact specifics of that shopper’s buying or leasing criteria.
For Coldwell Banker West Shell it was imperative they be able to better maintain listings, as residential activity in Over the Rhine is constant and the options ever expanding. They had become so disengaged with their prior site, its CMS and the developer who produced it, that they simply stopped using it, and consequently the information, and moreover the site became mostly obsolete. So rather than providing them with an improved but still somewhat standard content editing system, we instead produced a solution built around the most integral aspect of the site, the timely and accurate promotion of properties.
The custom utilities we engineered for them are accessed from an administrative dashboard. Every aspect of the website, from the header images to the tabbed property displays are controlled and powered by this new system, and providing Coldwell Banker West Shell with a completely autonomous tool to better manage their listings as they come online, sell or lease in real time.
