Handling PR duties in addition to Creative & Web
Cincinnati, Ohio, January 30, 2012—Over the Rhine based Topic, an integrated marketing services firm focused on design, technology and publicity, has announced today, in conjunction with MidPoint Music Festival’s Executive Producer Dan McCabe, that it will handle all public relations activities for the 2012 festival slated for September 27-29.
“MPMF is typical Cincinnati in that the festival is the sum of our partnerships,” said McCabe. “Our partnership with Topic has been a catalyst that drove an aggressive growth strategy behind a new brand identity they created and activated.”
Since 2009, Topic has served as the official creative partner for MPMF, crafting everything from the festival’s now synonymous icon, the one-eyed river boat captain Monty, its annual graphics and messaging themes, posters, ads, CD jackets, pocket guides, the mpmf.com website and the tweet visualization system currently archived at live.mpmf.com.
According to Chris Witham, Topic’s Managing Director and acting PR Manager for MPMF, “This added responsibility is a natural evolution in our relationship with the festival, and in particular with Dan and the other good folks behind the scenes at CityBeat. For us our participation is as much about fostering the continued success of the festival as it is the story Cincinnati has to tell because of it. It’s an awesomely inspiring and magical thing to be a part of.”
Coming off of the 2011 festival, MPMF’s 10th anniversary and its most successful to date, that included performances by Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Booker T. Jones and Australian dance-pop sensation Cut Copy, plans for MPMF.12 are centered around its continually concentrated yet expanding footprint in Over the Rhine, Cincinnati’s nucleus for art and culture, more all ages programming, dynamic sponsorships, and of course, a high-energy experience like no other wherein festival goers should expect to get up close and personal with their next favorite band.
“Last year's 10th anniversary MidPoint Music Festival signaled a new beginning,” added McCabe. “The expanded role of Topic as MPMF's PR entity reflects the overall expansion efforts behind the festival's 2012 season. This is going to be a very exciting year for Cincinnati."
